Lake Skinner to host 38 High School Teams Competing for the Solar Cup

Thirty-eight high school teams competing in May 19-21 Solar Cup at Lake Skinner present their solar-powered boats for technical inspection, skippers given swim tests between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at Three Valleys Municipal Water District, 1021 E. Miramar Ave., Claremont. (Los Angeles County Thomas Guide page 571, F-5.)

In the largest event of its kind in the nation, about 500 students from 38 schools are putting finishing touches on the solar-powered boats they've been building since December, preparing for the May 19-21 Solar Cup at Lake Skinner, Temecula. This inspection two weeks before event gives teams time to fix items that don't pass review.

Schools from Anaheim, Camarillo, Chino Hills, Claremont, Covina, Diamond Bar, Downey, El Monte, El Toro, Glendale, Hacienda Heights, Indio, La Puente, Lawndale, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Mira Loma, Moreno Valley, Murietta, Norco, Fernando, San Gabriel, San Jacinto, Temecula, Upland and Whittier.
