Saving Without Sacrificing: Homeowners in Riverside County Join Metropolitan, Shea Homes to Celebrate Living in Community Featuring the 'Gold Standard' in Water-Saving Features

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 2006--Metropolitan Water District of Southern California:
WHAT: The first California Friendly(TM) homeowners gather for
a spring event sponsored by Metropolitan Water District,
Shea Homes and Eastern Municipal Water District
celebrating their new homes and gardens that will use 50
percent less water outdoors than traditional ones.

Watermill at Adeline's Farm.

BACKGROUND: New homeowners at Watermill at Adeline's Farm will offer
their observations of what it's like to live in houses
featuring the next evolution of water-saving features.
Metropolitan's California Friendly landscape standards
were developed in conjunction with several building
industry organizations and the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation as a voluntary program to increase water use
efficiency in new homes. These standards reduce water
use by about 50 percent from a typical home landscape,
and have been used by leading builders like Shea Homes.


The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving 18 million people in six counties. The district imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies, and helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other water-management programs.
